Lottie's story

Name: Lottie

Story: Lottie was first diagnosed with portal vein thrombosis in June 2020 at Sheffield Children’s Hospital then transferred to Leeds Ward L50 where she started her journey.

Diagnosis: Portal vein thrombosis.

When Diagnosed: June 2020.

Treatment and Outcome: Lottie received regular Oesophago Gastro Duodenoscopy (OGD) banding procedures as an in-patient at Leeds Children’s Hospital.

Covid19 pandemic restrictions saw Lottie’s mum, Beth, having to accompany Lottie through intensive procedures on her own. This represented an extremely challenging period for both parents.

After regular treatments and examinations Lottie was found to be a good candidate for the Rex shunt procedure, this was performed in August 2022 and has been a success!
